There are currently frequent and extensive enhancements and fixes within KATS. Please stop by frequently for current updates. The version on this release remains unchanged and will be updated with the next update. 

Extremely Important Update Instructions:

NOTE:  KATS  automatically creates an administrative account called “Admin” when you first log in. The password to continue further is “admin” (without the quotations marks. You can change the password from the Users manager within the system. This ensure there is at least one administrator account within the system.  Once you have succeeded in the installation, you can then enter other users, dogs and put the teams together from the administrators account.

The database structures with this release have changed to add more functionality and flexibility to the system.  It is important that to properly install this version to update from previous version that you follow these instructions very carefully.

Special Updating Instructions for updating from 4.0 to 4.1 or 4.2

1. Export files from every system you are updating onto an external source such as a USB Flash Drive or similar media.  Ensure when you export that you have the Export All box checked if your system displays it in the Export window.

2. As an extra safety measure it is advisable to make a copy of your dbkats.mdb file. This file retains all of your records and can be used to restore your original system if necessary. This file can normally be found in your c:\KATS40\ConfigDB\DB directory.  Ensure you store it on a USB drive or on a file folder on your system you know will be protected from deletion.

3. Uninstall KATS using your Add/Delete Programs menu from your Control Panel.

4. Delete your KATS40 directory and all contents.

5. Download the latest update of KATS and install it as a fresh system.

6. Insert the appropriate registration information for your system from your registration sheet that was profided at the time of purchase.  Create an administrators account only witihin the system.

7. Import the .kad file that was created when you exported it from the previous installation.  Your update is complete.

August 4th, 2009 Update

• Cost code date information fixed.
• Issue where printer was not recognizing proper paper size fixed.
• Fields for the K9 Use of Force Report for “sex” and “announements” now show appropriate entries.
• Snippets not producing issues fixed.
• Data Lock box access changed - Data entry users without admin access can no longer access the lock button.
• Table system adjusted to remain static once a user scrolls to a specific entry. It no longer automatically resets.
• Diagram issue where the diagrams were not showing up in some reports fixed.
• Export of users will now only export the reports of the officer that has been checked and not all files within the database.
• Incident system enhanced to autodate all tab screens using the information input into the main Deployment tab screen. It is no longer necessary to repeatedly input the date.
• Printer icon in the training system fixed.
• Time entries on the sessions section of the training report now defaults to the original time entered.
• KATS now creates a folder in the Start Menu called “K9 Activity Tracking System”.
• The registration screen for KATS can now be accessed from any client on the network that can see the database. Previously this information could only be accessed from the server.
• In imports, the system now shows all the users so they can be imported/exported.  In previous versions, only active handlers were accessible.

June 4th, 2009 Update

•Diagramming  Tool Issue Fixed - Further update to May 29th update. A file in the installer was of a different version than what is expected. This was causing the Diagramming Tool to fail on some systems where the dependencies wouldn’t already exist.  Please make sure to uninstall the previous version (if any) and delete the entire Kats Diagramming Tool directory from the existing installation folder before you install the new version so as to remove any of the old files.

•Persons Details Report Resource exceeded issue fixed. The issue with this report was when huge data was imported; crystal report would throughout an error as it was not able to process the long filter criteria of record selection. We have changed the logic to add the filter criteria to the query and not to the crystal report record selection. Issue Fixed.

Added a line for additional signatures for chain of command approval for the Use of Force report.

•Incident Count by Team Add the words “Team Total” to the line when the numbers are totaled where it shows the total number of incidents for that team.

September 12th, 2007 Update

• Export Table Structure for all the levels. As informed earlier, we have added checkbox for Import and Export Lookup tables on both Import and Export forms
• Diagramming function ceased to work on some systems and has now been fixed.

July 27th, 2007 Update

New version 1.0.2.1 resolves all known installation issues.  Fixes in this release also include the following:

• Issue where deleting users did not clear them out of the system, preventing new users from being added.
• Licensing issue where apostrophes in the Agency name would not allow the system to license properly.
• Archiving system is now fully operational.

April 18th, 2007 Update -Installation package This version resolves issues where KATS Generation 4 could not install on some systems.  Also developed in this build is the ability to list reports in chronological order.  This version also resolves the issue of training file dates being reset when imported from Generation 3.

 Drawing Program Registration Fix

The initial release of KATS 4 did not carry over the registration to the drawing program. Download the following file “PaintDotNet.Resources.dll” and place it in the KATS Diagramming Tool Folder, overwriting the present .dll in that directory. This will register the program properly as per your registration.  Download PaintDotNet.Resources.dll now.

If this is your first time downloading KATS, after downloading, please go to the Installation link on this site and obtain the instructions for proper installation. As you start up KATS for the first time you will be presented with a registration screen with two buttons. One that says Register and the other that says Continue Evaluation. DO NOT change anything in that screen. All fields must remain EXACTLY as is. If you attempt to put your agency name or personalize the registration screen you will get an error message saying your trial period has expired. Simply click on the Continue Evaluation button to proceed each time you start the system. If you have difficulty, refer to the installation help link on this site.

.NET Frame Work 2.0 installed (Redistributable can also be provided as a part of Installer)
RAM : 256 MB (Recommended - 512 MB)
Processor Speed: 1.5 GHz, any processor
Hard Disk : 1 GB of available space
Minimum screen resolution is 1024x768

Supported OS: Windows XP, Windows XP Professional,  Windows 2000 Windows VISTA.  KATS Generation 4 has been developed using .NET (dot net) technology, the most advance programming system available and is Windows VISTA compatible. The system will automatically install your .NET framework for you, then install KATS Generation 4.
